Declaration of Interests

Science, technology, governance & risk management

Starting in the IT industry as an engineer and architect, Adam eventually became CIO of a NZX listed Company. It was this period that developed a recognition of his desire for process elegance and diversity of thought, marrying quality with creativity to drive outcomes not outputs.

He then moved into regulatory compliance at the NZ Inland Revenue Department where he implemented an intelligence led philosophy in the compliance function. After some time working in a global role with Oracle Corporation, he joined the NZ Financial Markets Authority to establish its strategic intelligence function.

He continues this type of work as a contracted expert for the IMF and ADB, specialising in tax compliance and anti money laundering. His well developed network (globally and domestically) helps firms that may be struggling with highly complex regulatory situations.

Adam founded The TIC Company, NZ’s first independent outsource provider of AML services, and probably the most trusted and respected of the providers in the market today.

Getting back to his roots (Quantum Physics) he is now Chair of a (proper) tech startup, Amaea. He also keeps a toe in the Financial Services world as Independent Chair of Fidelity Capital Partners and Matū Iramoe.

Adam also supports companies and founders that have hit tough times. This often includes situations where they may have suffered fraud or poor financial management, or a dispute between board and CEO / Founder. He has supported a number of senior people at mediation.

His not for profit support has include(d) school board, Transparency International (NZ), Amnesty International and Red Cross.
